  3. Nulife Foundation Charitable Trust has taken up a six room spacious place with properly built toilets and adequate water supply, on lease, at Tikri village. The objective is to establish an EWS school under the NIOS system and a Skill Development Center. This would create a platform for the children who slip through the system and are lost in the mass of urban workers/ beggars.
Generally, it is observed that there is a high dropout rate after Class VIII, due to family pressure, to be a monetary contributor or due to repetitive failure in exams, out of which a sense of hopelessness develops. According to National Crime Records Bureau, 55% of juvenile delinquents are either illiterate or limited to primary education. The NIOS offers a great deal of flexibility, in terms of choice of subjects and more importantly they get a 5 year period to clear the exams of 8, 10 and 12. This allows them to work as well as get educated .
In addition the Skill development center would offer contemporary courses like Computer literacy program, English speaking course and Tailoring. We have a tie-up with Maruti Auto Works to teach a car mechanic course. It is observed that after passing out Class X, children go back to the same rut of working as labour or maids. We hope to upgrade the skills of these children so as to uplift their standard of living and enhance their personalities through better employment opportunities.
